`Greetings, dear foodies!
This time I'm on time, although I almost forgot, to attend the invitation made by dear @sirenahippie to participate in the fabulous contest Your veggie shopping riceand of which I found out a little while ago.
This morning, after my coffee, I sat down to check a few things on my computer, stopped by Hive and remembered I had a post pending for @plantpoweronhive. I told my husband: Today we have to go to Carulla to buy rice! He looked surprised because we already had some in the pantry.
I explained to him and he understood my eagerness, hahaha, besides, he couldn't refuse because he loves going to this supermarket.
So, before going to work, we went to Carulla, one of the largest supermarkets I have visited in Bogota and I also love to go there because of the variety of products that can be found there, there is everything!

The times we've shopped here, I hadn't stopped to look at the variety of rice on the shelves. My husband grabs the one he thinks is best and that's it.
This morning, I was impressed by all that my eyes were seeing. I snapped a few pictures to share with you, as I was deciding which one I was going to buy to bring you to the contest.
There are many brands, sizes and prices. You can find packages of 1 kilo, 2.5 kilos and even 5 kilos, so you can't buy them in a month! A package of the latter would last a long time in my house because I like to eat rice, but I have been eating it in small portions and not so often for a long time. At home we are more of pasta and salads.
Prices range from 4,080 Colombian pesos which is equivalent to less than $1 to 38,400 Colombian pesos which is $8.17, this price corresponds to the American style basmatic rice of the Texmati brand. As you can see, there is something for all tastes and budgets.

A package of Diana brand coconut rice to which you only need to add sugar and salt for its preparation caught my attention.
I was reviewing a package of Roa brand electronically selected rice that offers a whiter, 100% whole rice.

After reviewing different packages for a while, I chose to take one of the Roa brand fortified with vitamin A and folic acid, plus it is free of gluten, fat, cholesterol and sodium, which seemed great for a healthier diet.

I had in my hands a package of Risotto, made in Italy, of the Monticello brand that cost 14,300 Colombian pesos ($3.12) that I left when a paella-flavored rice made eyes at me and I immediately remembered that at Easter I wanted to eat a seafood paella. So I didn't think much about it and took it to finish my rice shopping this time and plan the weekend menu with a delicious seafood paella.

The Roa rice cost 5,000 pesos and the Carulla brand paella-flavored rice cost 7,000 pesos. The purchase of these two packages of rice in total was 12,000 Colombian pesos, which is equivalent to $2.61.
Delighted to participate in this contest. I take this opportunity to thank @sagarkothari88 for supporting the community and especially this type of initiative.
See you next time.
