Greetings, my dear foodies!
The days have gone by super fast, and even more so this week when I've had some commitments to attend to and some family events to plan and kept me super busy. Today, I remembered that I had to shop for peppers for the fabulous contest that @sirenahippie invites us to and in which I love to participate. I went shopping at my all-time favorite place, Fruver, to pick out the prettiest peppers and share them with you.
At the entrance of Fruver I found some peppers already packed, but they were priceless, so I went directly to the shelves where I could find them loose and choose the ones I liked the most. On this occasion, I didn't see any yellow peppers, there were only red and green ones.
When I go to pick the peppers, I make sure they are not wilted, bruised or hollow, I like them to be smooth and shiny.
In my house there are always green and red peppers, but when I find yellow ones I don't hesitate to buy them. The combination of the peppers that I add to green salads in small pieces, gives them a colorfulness that I love.
Also, I like to buy them red and large to prepare them stuffed, this is one of the exquisite dishes that I prepare for my family. In my blog, I shared, some time ago, a delicious recipe for stuffed peppers.
The purchase done, let's review the prices and what I paid for these three beautiful peppers that I carried in my bag.
The kilo of peppers was today at 6,600 Colombian pesos, which equals $1.46, I bought 0.785kg, and for that I paid 5,181 pesos, which equals $1.15.
When I arrive with the groceries, I wash the peppers very well, apply the disinfectant for fruits and vegetables and let them air dry. Some I leave on a cart outside the refrigerator, these I use daily, if I don't use them all in the preparation of meals, what is left I put in a drawer of the refrigerator. When there are a lot of them, we cut the others in strips and store them in a container in the freezer. This way, we have fresh peppers for more days.
That's the end of my shopping this week.
