Your Veggie Shopping (Carrots)| Beta-carotene for health

Greetings, my dear foodies!

I hope you are doing well, enjoying health and well-being.

Once again, I am responding to @sirenahippie's invitation to participate in this week's Your-veggie-shopping contest to buy carrots.

Carrots are one of the vegetables that I like to eat in any presentation, either raw, in stews, in sautéed dishes, in salads, in soups, although I don't like to put many carrots in soups because it leaves them very sweet, thanks to its characteristic flavor, but, if the soups have carrots, I still eat them.

When I cook a dish with carrots, I always have a peeled carrot to eat it raw as a snack, even, many times, in the afternoon, at snack time, if I don't have anything at home, my best option is a chopped carrot.

I inherited my taste for this vegetable from my mother, she also ate raw carrots while cooking. I remember she always said that she ate them to see better, and I think she succeeded because my mother, at 74 years old, could thread a needle without problems and was sewing and embroidering almost until her last days.

It is well true that carrots have many benefits for our body because of the amounts of beta-carotene that help us to strengthen our immune system, provide us with positive effects on our skin and, in addition, carrots have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

On social networks, I have seen that carrot juice is very popular and I have heard and read many testimonials about the benefits of this juice to alleviate, and even cure, many diseases. There is a 5x5 protocol that consists of 5 glasses of carrot juice daily for 5 days, but it has some indications to follow, this is why I think it would be advisable to consult with a doctor, before taking on this protocol.

If anyone has information about the carrot juice protocol or knows of any testimonies close to you, let us know in the comments.

In the meantime, I continue to eat a lot of carrots because I love them and I know they do my body a lot of good.

Now then, on to this week's purchases.

When I went to the market over the weekend, I had the illusion that I had carrots at home. When I arrived, I realized that I didn't, and I saw the call for the contest to buy carrots, so yesterday I made the purchase that I share with you today.

On the other hand, I didn't go to my favorite Fruver, but I took advantage of an outing to the doctor and on my way back, I saw that there was a small Fruver nearby and I went in.

There, I found some beautiful and huge carrots, and also, some packaged baby carrots that I didn't hesitate to buy.

The kilo of carrots cost 3,400 pesos, which is equivalent to $0.81. The four I chose, because of their size, weighed exactly one kilo.

For the baby carrots I paid 3,500 pesos per kilogram, that is $0.83, a little more than the large carrots.

When I got home, I unpacked everything to store them in the refrigerator, where I keep them. When there are a lot of them, I wash them, remove the peel, dry them with blotting paper and store them in containers to freeze. That way, whenever I need them, I can still find them fresh.

That's the end of my shopping this week.

Delighted to participate in this contest. I take this opportunity to thank @sagarkothari88 for supporting the community and especially this kind of initiatives.

See you next time.
