My Amazing Weekend

I feel safe lately when I'm outside away from people, or inside away from people. That's why it's good at times to "get away from it all" using the wonders of technology. Sometimes I wake up and almost forget the times we now live in. With all of the restrictions on travel and the various lockdowns, It's refreshing to step back into a safe space (yes, I said it), before all of the current madness happened. That brings us to how I spent my weekendI, and the thoughts behind it. I've been streaming the past few days, and have been binge-watching entire seasons of 'The Amazing Race.'

Beginning with the first season, all the way to the 10th, which I'm just about to wrap up today. It was interesting to see references to the World Trade Center, as well as the funky little devices that existed before the iPhone was released in 2007. Remember the Treo? or the Sidekick? I almost can't believe people got around with those antiquated handsets, which at the time were considered cutting-edge.

Remember the time?

Watching all of that, gave me a sense of calm and freedom that I hadn't felt since December, 2019. The photo I took in September of a tree by the pathway in the park, encapsulates that inner peace. Teams racing all over the world with the only worry being eating something gross and trying to win a million dollars. Remember when we used to be able to go out anywhere we wanted? That's what I felt as I was watching this action-packed series.

Reminds me of my trip to Europe in 2017, where I had to fly even though I hate it. One thing I've decided, is that next time, I'll give serious consideration to taking a cruise instead. On the flight home from Gatwick, I was gripping those armrests for dear life! Did I say I hate to fly? My original plans starting Friday, were to work on a number of posts I'd started, yet haven't finished. That's when I discovered the 'Weekend' community, and saw this as a delightful way to share just what in the hell I've been up to these past few days.

I think the important thing we have to do is take each day, one at a time. Enjoy every breath you take, and the loved ones around you. Take nothing for granted, because life is meant to be lived fully. Take the path wherever it leads you. After this weekend, I now feel refreshed, and ready for the world. Tomorrow is a new day, and I hope it's a wonderful day for each and every one of you.
