Wednesday Walk - Discovering a New Waterfall.

This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.

If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.

We recently decided to go for a walk at the Shongweni Farmer's Market. But today's post won't be about the market...it will be more about what we discovered...

The Farmer's Market was previously always held on the outskirts of Hillcrest on Saturday mornings.

But some time ago they decided to move to Shongweni. We often enjoyed visiting the market and maybe even having a light breakfast there, but since they moved, we just didn't get around to visiting the market at their new venue.

So, we decided to finally visit the market at their new venue and see what it's like.

I'm glad we did because by visiting the Farmer's Market, we discovered a beautiful waterfall that we didn't know about before.

In all honesty, I'm not all that big on going to shops and stuff. That is more my wife's department. On this particular morning, our little 3-year old grandson was with us too.

He was obviously more interested in the playing area, which took us to the side of the market.

And that's when we saw it...a beautiful waterfall on the opposite side of the gorge.

In the next photo I zoomed out to get the whole scene, getting the waterfall more to the center.

Then I became aware of something else. Right at the bottom, just to the right of the waterfall (as I was facing it), there was a tunnel coming through the mountain. As I was taking these photos, I saw a train coming out of the tunnel and passing just below the waterfall.

It is not really clearly visible in the photo. But, in the next photo, if you look closely just below the waterfall to the left (through the bushes), you'll see what looks like a white line from right to left, that is actually the back-end of the train.

To the right was this spectacular view.

Walking along the side of the market a little further, I found this hiking trail starting from here where you can hike down into the gorge. I'm not exactly sure how far down it goes, I'll need to go and explore sometime...

While I was enjoying the view, all the kids behind me were having a ball of a time with a guy making huge bubbles for them.

And then this little "fun train", the "Shongweni Express" came by...

It returned a little later.

In the mean time, Elmarie and our grandson was also having fun at the play area.

And that's it for today, folks. I'll share some market photos soon.

Thank you for reading my post. I do appreciate it!
