Greetings dear friends coffee lovers, this is my participation in the #SPILLTHEBEANS CONTEST for which I want to take the opportunity to invite friends @universoperdido
The night grew deep and dark, as Johanna walked in fear along the great avenue of this lonely town, where she had arrived fleeing from the lurking evil that felt closer and closer. The icy breeze blows with all its might, fitting into her face like sharp needles tearing her skin, as she tries to move forward, looking in all directions, knowing that her doomed fate is the safest thing she has in these days close to Halloween.
The dingy room of a small roadside motel, is the last refuge he got to hide, at least until the crucial night he constantly thinks about, October 31, that macabre date when the demon Samaín walks the earth to harvest the souls compromised by the deals and also the only chance he has to drag Johanna along with him if he fails to outwit him once again. After turning on the light, he starts the coffee pot on the night table with trembling hands, where bloody fingers protrude, already without nails from chewing them so much, as a reflex act of his impatience before the infernal powers that have a place reserved for him.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee brings her peace and tranquility for reasons of a religious nature not explained in detail, but one thing is certain, the demons cannot follow her as long as she is surrounded by coffee, she has proven that many times every year at this time, since that ragged old man told her the story of how he could outwit the collector of souls for years, and then become a priest, managing to protect his essence forever behind the doors of the church. But of course, she does not intend to become a nun or anything like that, so she just smiles while in her thoughts come the memories of that disturbing narration of the man when he was desperate, that same aberrant feeling that crushes from within her heart between cutting her breath if only, I had not accepted the deal! What would my life be like today, she wonders in her mind.
However, after taking another long sip of steaming coffee, she says to herself by way of consolation, it doesn't matter, why to think about it, surely I would have starved to death anyway, thanks to the deal with the demon, at least it has been ten years worthwhile, full of riches and enjoyment. Who could imagine that a simple vagabond, banished from her family and without any studies, could amass such a significant fortune, good advice gave me that beggar in which I saw myself reflected, to warn me that I should surround myself with coffee, although it did not help much that my business became the most important coffee shops in the world, that would not save me from the demons I have more than clear, but here I am I have already mocked the Samaín 7 times since the time of my sentence was fulfilled, today will be no different.
The sound of dragging chains can be heard everywhere, at the same time that the disgusting smell of rotten eggs announces that the gates of hell are slowly opening, letting the sulfur escape from its pits. In the decaying room, the depressed woman stands in a corner praying on her knees asking heaven for help to save her while the surrounding atmosphere becomes even more gloomy, a dense fog spreads throughout the air preventing visibility, but letting perceive cries of pain and hardship of the damned spirits that overwhelm the desperate mind of Johanna who begins to feel again how the horror gets into her bones making her succumb to despair in an inconsolable cry of repentance, at the same time that a shiver runs through her dry skin producing lacerations that betray the putrefaction of her being corrupted by evil.
The door of the room opens abruptly, giving access to a human shadow with incandescent eyes, crowned by creepy antlers that betray it as one of the ruling demons of the underworld, the towering figure moves towards the girl slowly while dragging his heavy goat hooves making the ground around him tremble, This time the barriers of protection and witchcraft that Johanna had long added to erase her trail, seems to have vanished before a powerful entity that seeks her with the fury of an enraged animal.
The monster stands in front of her sniffing like a dog in active hunting, the girl feels how life escapes from her little by little under an exhausting cold that barely allows her to breathe, while she feels prey to fear knowing that everything would end in a scene of blood, pain, and fire where her spirit would be consumed for eternity in the cauldrons of the lower circles. The desperate entity emits a terrifying scream that echoes throughout the room, betraying his inability to smell or see the woman who is just inches away from him, but protected within a circle of coffee beans, whose divine magic managed to save her from her condemnation once again, extending her term for another year until the eternal battle between good and evil is once again unleashed on the night of October 31.
