Point Beach - Where Durban's Golden Mile Starts.

Over the last couple of weeks, I have mentioned the Golden Mile in Durban. I would like to do some posts where I can share some photos of this area.

I would also like to visit some of the interesting venues along the Golden Mile and immediate areas and see if I can get some photos that will be worth sharing.

Today I will share some photos, starting at the beginning of the Golden Mile, at Point Beach.

I recently shared some photos of Point Beach, but over the weekend, we went down and did a walk along three beaches at the bottom end of the Golden Mile.

We covered Point Beach, Ushaka Beach, and Addington Beach.
I will share photos of these three beaches over the next three days, starting today.

So, starting at Point Beach, it is always a hive of activity.

I got this photo of these two guys coming out on the beach after they have clearly been fishing from a wet bike. (You can see their fishing rods standing on the back of the wet bike).

This boat was out already and the owner was busy removing it from the beach.

The Golden Mile starts here at Point Beach, which is right next to the entrance to Durban Harbor as can be seen in the next photo.

I did share this photo in a previous post as well, but I share it again today to show it as the starting point of the Golden Mile, as this photo was taken from Point Beach.

Walking back up to the promenade, we started moving in the direction of Ushaka Marine World.

As you arrive at Ushaka Marine World and you turn around, you see the entrance to Point Beach on the promenade.

I must admit, it is the first time I see this clearly marked entrance to Point Beach from this side, as we normally enter the Point Beach area from the Point Waterfront side.

We don't really come to this area so often. We prefer to normally go to Point Beach via the Point Waterfront, or otherwise, we go to the more northern beaches when we visit any beaches in Durban.

In the next photo, you can clearly see that from here you will be entering the Point Beach area.

I took the next photo from a point that is clearly intended for taking photos. You know...the typical empty frame to create the illusion of a framed picture...

But this photo...well, I just couldn't take it the way I wanted to.

The idea was to get a full view of the ongoing promenade, including the beach to the left into the "frame".

But there was this young girl who kept moving into the photo before I could take it...lol.

I don't think it was intentional, but eventually, it started feeling that way, as she kept looking around and I am convinced she saw me with the camera trying to take a photo. She would then turn around and move more "into the photo".

I would move to the right to try and get a shot without her in the photo...and then again...the same thing...lol.

Eventually, I have moved so far to the right, that I would not be able to get the writing on the frame in the photo if I would move any further, so I took the photo.

As you can see in the photo, I was already moving in behind a post and couldn't get the frame in fully anymore...and her arm is also still visible in the photo after she had just turned around again...lol.

At least, you can see the beach partially and the promenade partially through the frame.

I just couldn't spend more time just waiting... We still had an arrangement with our oldest daughter for the afternoon, and we still wanted to do the walk on the promenade to the next two neighboring beaches too.

Murphy was also with us on this walk as well...lol. I have spent so much time on Point Beach, waiting for a big ship to come in or to leave the harbor and to take some photos... But while we are there...nothing, except for the odd pleasure boat cruising by as the one that can also be seen in this post.

And now, just as we were on Ushaka Beach... Guess what? This massive cargo ship came out of the harbor.

It was still exciting though, as the water was a bit on the rough side, and the effect on the ship was quite impressive...especially when it started turning southward.

I did get some photos, but they will be in tomorrow's post.

So that's it for today, folks.

Thank you for reading my post. I do appreciate it.
