I suppose you know by now that we've had a road trip from where we live in Durban, going up to Johannesburg and back this past weekend.
As mentioned in this post on Tuesday, there was no time (or space) to safely pull over and take some nice photos.
So, all the photos were taken by my wife with her mobile phone while we were traveling.
Many of the photos will only serve as a memory of this trip and cannot be published, due to the fact that it was hard to focus and get sharp and clear photos while traveling at 120km/h...lol.
I have some photos I can still share today though. They were taken on the way back.
What is interesting to me in some of these photos is how we got the effect of the photo almost being a painting instead of a photo.
I suppose it is because these photos have been taken while driving. I was just expecting more of a "blur" effect on many of the photos due to the movement. And we got some "blurry" effects, especially in the foreground, while the rest of the photo was relatively clear. But it's almost as if it's just the detail that is missing, giving it the effect of almost being like a painting...well, that's what it looks like to me.
The first photo was taken relatively early on the trip. The beginning is a bit boring and flat. But as you start approaching the halfway mark, the landscape becomes increasingly more beautiful.
This was one of the first signs of a change in the landscape.
But let me share a bit of a winding road with you as we came down to pass the Midmar Dam in Howick and you'll see the "effect" in some of these photos too.
At first, the Midmar dam became visible on our left. Now, in this photo, it is clear how the grass in the immediate foreground is blurry, due to the movement, while the background is relatively clear with the focus being on the dam in the distance.
The next photo is a typical example of what looks like a painting to me, rather than a photo.
We were getting closer to the dam, but with the dam still on our left-hand side...
After navigating around some serious bends in the road, we then passed the dam (which is currently overflowing after the good rainfall we had), with the dam being on our right-hand side.
The quality of this photo is not good, but I include it to share the beauty of an overflowing dam and the dam being on our right-hand side, while minutes earlier it looked as if we would pass the dam being on our left-hand side...
It was also difficult for my wife to get this shot, as there was a lot of traffic, and she waited for that split second to get a snapshot without vehicles in the photo...
After this, it started getting darker and there wasn't enough light for more photos, as we started the descent through the valleys, losing altitude while we were getting closer to the coast.
And that's it for today, folks!
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
