Introduction
Earlier today one of my cooperatives had a General Assembly event. I attended the event since I am somewhat of an officer in the cooperative. I say somewhat because I am not a really a mainstream officer. I handle Gender and Development which is new to our cooperative. Well I attended not just because I am an officer but the main reason is because I am a member of the cooperative.
General Assembly is a yearly event where all the members of the cooperative gather together and exercise their rights. Being a member of the cooperative you are automatically part of the General Assembly. General Assembly is the highest decision making body inside a cooperative. During this event the staff and board of directors of a cooperative will give a summary report to the General Assembly of the last years business venture or how well the cooperative was doing for the past year.
This event also signifies the anniversary of the cooperative. Since this event happens most of the time only once a year.
Activities during a General Assembly includes giving summary of reports, proposing projects or future plans, open forums, officer elections, as well as a getting to know each other for every member of the cooperative.
Around 8:30AM there are members now arriving and they need to fill up the attendance sheet for today. There are still a few people on the function hall so we are still waiting for other members to arrive so we can official start the event.

Around 9AM and around 60% of the chairs have already been occupied and the start of the event.
This is our board of director secretary giving the summary reports for our last General Assembly's event last 2020 since we skipped this event last year thanks to the COVID19 Pandemic.
Next is our Manager reporting the projects the cooperative has done for the past year while also answering member questions if there are any. The last image above with the guy wearing a while t-shirt is asking our dear manager a question.
After the discussion of the Annual Development Plan is the officer elections. Since elections are kind of boring, I went down stairs to take pictures and took another picture of our attendance girls and boys
Since I already introduced Mam Eve above the guy next to her is Sir Dennis. They asked me to take a picture of them and so I did. Just look at those smiles 😍
And oh after the elections is lunch time. So there is a hour lunch break for all of us. There is still a part 2 in the afternoon though since this event is a whole day event.
After lunch the next order of activities were the discussion and approving of the Annual Budget and Annual Development Plan for the Cooperative.
This is the last event of the day. After all of the discussions and approvals is the giving of giveaway gifts. This years gifts are 10kg of rice. It really is a good timing considering most of us are really tight on the budget thanks to Super Typhoon Rai (Odette)
Closing Remarks
This years General Assembly Event for this cooperative seemed to be successful. I love to attend this events from my many cooperatives since this will give me a rough idea if our cooperative is functioning well or are we even growing or moving forward. A positive net income is a very strong indicator that our cooperative is growing and this is really I only care about. As long as the cooperatives generates money it is good enough for me.
And by the way I am a member of 4 different cooperatives 😁 but this cooperative is what is closest to me so I was able to attend this event. I received a mail regarding the schedules of my other cooperatives but I doubt I can go there to attend. I would really love to but I just can't
