Hey Hive!
Now that a lot of people here have already gotten vaccinated, I'm very happy to hear that Singapore is now allowing in-house dining again but obviously you have to be vaccinated. But since there aren't any restrictions this allows us to try out different food places again!
The other day we were in town running some errands and I wanted a snack so we decided to try this Ramly Burger stall that was new to me since the last time we came to this mall called 313 Somerset along Orchard Road!

This was the basement of the mall, where you'd commonly find a bunch of food stalls and small restaurants, as well as cafes and dessert places. It'd been a while since we came to this mall so I didn't recognise some of the newer stalls here like this one called Rambürger!
I guess it's a modernised version of the old-school style Ramly Burger, which is a classic street food in Singapore and Malaysia, and you'd commonly find them in night markets (colloquially known as pasar malam) that pop up during the festive seasons.

Ramly is actually a brand of burger patties started by a a Malaysian named Ramly Bin Mokni, who created a burger recipe with his wife in 1979. They sold burgers from a mobile kisok in Kuala Lumpur and it became so popular they sold their unique patties (and the egg-wrapping way of cooking) to other street vendors, who named it Ramly Burger after the founder. Soon enough the couple started a factory making the patties and now it's a household brand all over Southeast Asia!

The Rambürger franchise actually began in 2020 during the pandemic when lockdown was imposed in Singapore. It was set up as a delivery concept to serve people a local favourite during a difficult time since night markets were basically non-existent. And now they have a few stalls over the island!

It looked pretty interesting and it had been a long while since I had a Ramly Burger so I decided to try it! They of course have the classic chicken or beef burger, but Rambürger also has some unique flavours like Wagyu Beef, Crispy Chicken/Fish and Ebi Prawn, as well as different side options. I'm not sure how they would make it Ramly-style or if they were just normal burgers though.

I was torn between the Crispy Chicken and the classic Ramly-style Chicken burger, but I decided to order the classic Chicken burger just to see how they would fare against my memory of a Ramly Burger from a pasar malam.

After we ordered, they got to work preparing my burger right in front of me! They actually boast about grilling it right in front of everyone with their glass windowed kitchen grill so you can see that every order is prepared fresh and they don't add any preservatives.

My mouth was watering just watering watching them preparing my burger and smelling that delicious aroma, and after about 10 minutes it was finally done! We didn't get a set since I just wanted a snack to try their burger so it was served wrapped it their own paper.

Everything was nicely wrapped in the egg but I knew the egg pocket was filled with sauces along with the patty, and upon picking it up it did make a little mess.

The sauce was actually piping hot because of the egg wrap but it was really yummy! The patty was nice and not dry, the bun was fluffy and lightly toasted, and it did taste just like an authentic Ramly burger you'd get in a night market.

It looked kinda simple but it packed a whole lot of flavour and although I did burn my tongue a little because I got too eager, it was worth it! It definitely hit the spot for me needing a snack. If you're ever craving a Ramly Burger or want some street food without enduring the heat of a pasar malam, I'd recommend Rambürger!
