Salute your Health | Healthy Moringa and My Morning Juice!

Cheers! We’re growing our own Moringa tree!

I haven’t shared an update lately so I thought today would be a good day especially since my morning juice included Moringa leaves. The Moringa tree is a fast growing tree, native to India. Living in Southern Florida we are able to grow Moringa. We planted our tree in February, it was about 12” tall at that time and today 6 months later, it is about 5’ tall! In fact, its time to prune and transplant!

She needs to be transplanted desperately! We haven’t transplanted yet because we are waiting to have our screen cage replaced on our lanai. Hurricane Irma and her twister sidekick ripped our cage from our lanai and left a twisted art piece worthy of an art museum display.

Through my research we now know how to prune, promoting new growth and allows the Moringa to fill out . We will be able to keep the tree under 6’ which will work beautifully on our lanai. I’ll share more about that when we transplant shortly.

Anyway, I digress. This hasn’t stopped me from harvesting leaves for our smoothies and juices.

The health benefits of the Moringa leaf and extracts are vast. From neurological support to fighting cancer, the leaves are packed with vitamins A, B’s, folate and Vitamin C. Moringa supports the liver and fights stomach disorders. All of these benefits are significant in our family’s health. A great reason why we are growing our own tree..

Alzheimer’s disease has been prevalent in Mr. Bird’s family so we are constantly researching new natural medicines and foods which hopefully aid in keeping this dreaded disease at bay. Studies have shown Moringa extract has successfully treated neurological issues related to monoaminergic (ie serotonin, dopamine) deficiencies which are related to Alzheimer disease.

I love morning juices. We have been drinking these juices just about every day since last November.

The positive health effects are many!

Both Mr. Bird and I have more energy, we don’t have cravings for sweets and we both have dropped weight. In fact Mr. Bird is at his lowest weight in years! Our digestive health has improved, no stomach issues for me anymore. As a result both juices and smoothies are now permanently incorporated into our daily meals.

Chopped all of our fruits and veggies, ran them through my juicer and Voila!

Just a great way to start your day!

Oh, and don’t forget, you can use that juice pulp!! Throw some in your sweet bread batter, it adds moisture and vitamins, add to soups, make crackers with juice pulp….the possibilities are endless!

Thanks for dropping in!

And as always, blessings to you all!
