Giving Steem

IMG_5609.JPG

From now until further notice, (except this post) all my posts will be set to 50/50 rewards and all SBD will be held in readiness for charitable donations / to support fellow Steemians in difficulty.

Support will only be forthcoming to Steemians with a solid reputation and history of community activity within the Steem economy.

All requests must be general posts....I will have to ignore any direct requests to me via Steemit.chat or request comments in my posts. I hope you understand why that must be.

So if I see a post relating to some need by or on behalf of a Steemian or external situation and they have an adequate reputation, I will consider donating from my SBD giving steem fund.

I don't currently post that often because I just don't have the time but I have been lucky enough to attract some voters. Hopefully this commitment (assuming I don't run into unforeseen difficulties in implementing this) will make a real difference over time.

My hope is that other dolphins, orcas and whales that have secured regular support, might consider doing the something similar. As stellabelle elegantly articulated here...

@stellabelle/the-reason-you-don-t-understand-steemit-it-s-like-a-gift-economy-not-a-commodity-economy

...the steem economy is based on giving and has the power to turn our selfishness into something better. The old system forces selfishness and competition on us where none needs to be. In the end, giving Steem can enrich us all.

The fact of the matter is that there will be many Steemians who run into difficulty like @darthnava and many more tragedies that will need our support. Spontaneous donations and generous voting is fantastic and will hopefully continue, but an actuall commitment of the kind I'm taking, especially if taken up by more of us, will provide greater consistency, be more transparent and help more people who fall into difficulty or tragedy in the end.

I would ask Steemit.inc (@ned @sneak) to consider adding an SBD and Steem "donations" savings accounts to the Steem wallets asap.

Finally, the Steem reward pool is very precious. Think about where those rewards are going and what accounts are doing with those rewards. Rapid accumulation of wealth is a great starting point for attracting people to the Steem economy, but it cannot be....I hope it won't be...why we stay. Those who are regularly successful with their posts have an opportunity to consider what else they could do with those rewards and by voting for those who create the content you like but who also directly give Steem back are perhaps the ones on which to focus your attention. Thankfully I don't post that regularly so I hope you can believe that my aim is not to get attention or Steem. I am more than happy with what I have already, my motives are simply this.....the world is a place of abundance, I believe we can share it peacefully and Prevent our children and their children from paying the price for our greed and hubris. Steemit is part of the foundation and I want to help lay the bricks. That is all.

Happy Steeming
