John Galton was one of the best of us, and I have personally been missing him, and his council. Last night I decided it was time to hold a ceremony in his honor. Since I purchased a Mexican Sugar Skull candle cover as as a gift for my friend, and had the chance to buy some blessed candles from New Renaissance Bookshop, I used them both to send love to his spirit.
The candle I choose to light was blessed for COURAGE - which truly exemplifies who John is. I said many words that I will leave in that ceremony, then lit the candle, placed the skull over top, and turned off the lights.
The blessing was received in the spirit realm. Once no one was paying attention to it, the candle COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED! I recognize that a candle can melt all the way down, but there was not nearly enough wax on the paper underneath to represent the entire candle, the burnt wick however was still there. It was only lit for about 45 mins to an hour. I will let you make up your own mind, but I feel the light of that candle of courage is with him now.
I really do miss you brother, I'm sorry we did not get a chance to continue developing our friendship, but we will see each other again.
The symbolism behind the sugar skulls represents honoring ancestors, and are associated with the Mexican holiday Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. They are made to honor the spirits of the dead who are believed to visit their families.
"Sugar skulls are often used to decorate the gravestones of the deceased. The reason they are called “sugar skulls” is because the authentic sugar skulls were made out of clay molded sugar, decorated with feathers, colored beads, foils and icing" (1).
@lily-da-vine, who was John's partner since wee met, is one of the strongest women I have ever met, and NO ONE else I know would be as ok as she has been though all of this. Lily is quite an inspiration to more than just me, and I will always have her back no matter what. Today I sent a prayer of love, blessings, and protection to her today, and am looking forward to showing her around Oregon whenever she makes it up this way. Everything will be ok, but man did this one sting, especially for her. You are loved Lily, and you are enough, we are all here for you, are honored and blessed to know you, and also to have known Jon.

John Galton was brutally murdered by 6 gunmen at his home in Acapulco Mexico on February 1st, 2019. We were set to stay with John and Lily for our first few days in Acapulco this year, and if our travel arrangements were the same as last year (just a few days sooner than when we departed this year), I very likely would have been next to him during this incident. I thank the universe that I and others are still here to mourn, instead of also being mourned. We are all truly blessed to live this life with all its experiences, even one's as f'd up as this.
The mainstream media twisted facts and manufactured completely untrue statements surrounding John's murder. If you run into one of these articles, I advise you ascertain the truth from people who know him best, or better yet from the people who were actually there. The media is aiming to use this story to smear the Anarchist community, the Freedom movement, Acapulco and Mexico in general, and John and Lily personally.
