Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by @tattoodjay, The idea is to get out for a short walk, and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start.
In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks. - John Muir
I take daily walks - weather permitting. I have a nice walking route. The entire route is about eight kilometers. However, I don't do the whole eight kilometers every day. I do about five to six kilometers a day. So, I have the option to choose which part of the route I will take each day. Once in a while, when I am feeling very energetic, or when I am feeling out of sorts, I will do the entire route.
Today's walk is part of my eight kilometers route - but not one which I usually take.
Here are some pictures I took on one of my walks.
This is what the sky looks like here, most of the time.

A what we call here - Neighbourhood school. People living in the area have priority for enrolling for places in the school.
Community gardening.
A small area of land is set aside for the senior folks in the area who are interested in gardening. This gives the senior folks something to do, and a chance to socialise, and at the same time, to get to know the neighbours. They pay a token fee of two dollars a month for a bed in the plot. They can plant vegetables and/or flowers. The fruits of their labour is theirs to do as they please.
Sometimes, passerbys drop in to have a look, and ended up buying the vegetables from the seniors. Sometimes neighbours drop in for a chat, and they were given the vegetables. Where talk of money is a sensitive issue, receivers of the good deed will usually pay in kind - like, they will come by another day with cakes or desserts or food, to show their appreciation.
These community gardening are all over the island. They are very popular. The tiny beds of spaces are snatched up very quickly.
This particular plot of community farming has another very good use. There are a few neighbourhood schools nearby, and sometimes schools take their students for lessons outside the class. The students get to learn about vegetables, gardening and farming. The seniors get to interact with the youngsters, and a chance to teach the young ones, a thing or two about the food they eat.
I think the community gardening is a wonderful idea. It not only give the seniors, who are retired something to do, it also foster the community spirit.
