Journey is often used as a metaphor for life, and very aptly too!
Our lives are very similar to that of our taking a journey, or a trip to somewhere. The journey could be a long or short one, a purposeful one, or one of leisure. While journeying, we take in the sights, we interact a bit with the people, and we try to have as good a time as we can. But alas, time passes and we have to be on our way again. So, it is with our lives. It could be a long or short life. We do not live forever.
Journeys are never without their inconveniences. How we deal with them should also be applied to how we deal with our hiccups in life. While on the road, we cope with the inconveniences as best as we can. Parts of the journey will be wonderful - which we will enjoy very much, and there will be parts of the journey we find a drag. Still, we try to make the best of the journey, knowing that it is temporary, knowing that this is what travelling entails. We learn as we journey – what works, what don’t. We apply what we learned. We change, we correct, we move on… This is also true with life.
So, in life, as in travelling, let your baggage be few, pack only what you need. Let go of whatever weighs you down. Look at the world with eyes of wonder – like a child. If you do not like the way things are, change it. If you cannot change it, change the way you look at it. Accept what you cannot change, and move on. Learn, understand, accept!
