Somewhere Between the Forest and the Jungle...

@Ecotrain, @tribesteemup and @Earthtribe have invited us to write something relating to forests in an effort to expose this day of Love for the planet to our steem universe which was on the 21st of March.
As it is a challenge there are prizes for the best posts. You can get all the details here.
Did you know the forests of this world have their own day of celebrations??? I had no idea but it only makes sense that it should.
Check out the celebration here
Though perhaps we've been looking at it through the wrong lense... EVERYDAY should be a celebration of the Forests. Do they not act as the lungs of planet Earth?
I understand breathing is something we do without thinking and that everyday we are alive, most of us forget to be greatfull for not having to think about it. Next time you're conscious of your own breath, maybe you can thank yourself for having a working auto pilot?
While you're at it, you may as well thank all the trees for giving us an important piece of what we need to breathe properly!!!
The two schools of though I've encountered talk about deforestation. Both tell the story of people in the Middle-East, Europe and the Far-East having cut everything in sight to build their respected civilizations. None deny that certain parts of the world have become deserts on our account, they do however, differ in what is told about our current situation...
One school will tell you there are more trees today than ever before (a very broad term we use when talking about the passed).
The other claims the forests and jungles are nearly all gone.
I have seen both giant swabs of deserted land and endless jungles on my many journeys across the globe. So I'm not sure who to believe, but I do know that I will continue living my life caring for our environment. You won't see me cutting down a tree unless it fits into some sort of permaculture plan I have!
Until we blow this planet into a bazillion little pieces flying accross the universe, we have not reached the end of this world... And we will most probably be gone long before that!
I just realized something, with that statement; I sure hope the so called leaders of this earth aren't betting on that!
A conversation to have, as it can be seen to be no less natural than a tree littering the forest floor with leaves or a beaver disrupting the environment for it's habitat, is on the polution and destruction we create. While this behavior puts us on a clear path of human extinction, our polution being un-natural is debatable, but that's another can of worms we can open in a later post!
Shifting our attention towards Hunter-Gatherers.
The fact remains that if we don't wake up, our forests will disappear. I believe there are many things to learn from the past. We don't need to focus on the negative impact of our pasts, we generally know when we're doing wrong to Pacha Mama. We can shift our attention towards hunter-gatherer people. Looking into how they used to manage the forests, and how a few still practice that life, perhaps we can learn to use old skills and knowledge with modern technology to regrow what's been over harvested into some kind of food forests, accross the globe.

I can already hear some thoughts on how we cannot feed all the 8 billion people solely on hunting and gathering. I mean, you can imagine just how quickly everything that is edible on the planet could be devoured. But I'm talking about a plan where sustainable food forests would be managed accordingly with the number of inhabitants...
Of course humanity needs a good bit of re-education for us all to respect our forest in the same way she respects us. I can dream that one day we will reach a certain level of intelligence for our own survival... I can dream that one day we will know that we may just be a part of some larger animal (the universe and beyond), that we have some important symbiotic relationship like that of the microbiom in our gut.
Happy Forest Day to you all... and Happy spring 😁!
