June 1969
Once again, The Beatles dominated the Australian music charts in June 1969.
The rumors and stories regarding Paul McCartney have certainly kept me captivated for the past month and after watching a few documentaries and videos, I believe I have formed my very own 'conspiratorial type' opinion regarding the matter... however, I'll put that aside for now to keep it for a later installment as I'm fairly sure The Beatles will have another hit song during the second half of the year... this was 1969, after all
The next song to take the number one spot was 'Hair' by The Cowsills and at first glance, I didn't recognise this band name at all. Listening to the first verse didn't help much either but as soon as they started singing the chorus, it all came flooding back to me in an instant.
Anyhoo, The Cowsills formed in 1965 with brothers Bill Cowsill, Bob Cowsill and Barry Cowsill, then shortly after, added John Cowsill. After their initial success, the brothers were later joined by their siblings Susan Cowsill and Paul Cowsill and their mother, Barbara. Bob's twin brother Richard was the road manager. src
Sound familiar...?!? Well, this talented family known as The Cowsills would become the real-life inspiration behind the hit television series called 'The Partridge Family' that was very popular in the 1970's.
