Week 10/22/2019 - Win a Membership in Steem Basic Income - Tell us About a Favorite Freewrite

@carolkean here on behalf of #freewritehouse …
Good news! A new post from one of our dedicated Prompt Deliverers!
I've been hoping to see more writing from @deirdyweirdy. Delivering prompts is time consuming, and we can only spread ourselves so thin. @Mariannewest has wisely chosen to cut back on the busy-work of Freewritehouse, and I applaud her for delegating more tasks to other volunteers.Thank you, everyone who reads and upvotes . Maybe we don't really need each other, but I love the sense of community and purpose. And I love your story @deirdyweirdy!! (Full Disclosure: @iamraincrystal nominated it before I even saw it.) Oh, and don't pass over the comment section. I love this:
"It's definitely the sense of community that keeps me here. It was a good day for me when I found Marianne and her happy little freewriting band."
@deirdyweirdy, by the way, has mastered Deep POV.
"Deep Point of View" dumps extraneous thought tags and puts us straight in the protagonist's head. In @deirdyweirdy's "Moonstruck" you'll find gems like this:
Have faith was what her grandma used to say to her, Think that your seeds will germinate and that the plans will grow, or was that plants?
If you do a search on Deep POV, you'll find lots of great blog posts that explain it well. One of the best:
How To Write In Deep Point-Of-View
by Kristen Kieffer
Have you ever read a book in which you felt one with the point-of-view character?
From the very first page, the author dropped you in the protagonist's shoes, encouraging you to see their world and experience their journey through their eyes. It's novels like these that are often so easy to consume — and that consume you in return. And the technique that makes many of them tick? Writing in Deep Point-Of-View...
@jayna also has a good post here on Steemit:
Writing workshop volume 10: Perspective and point of view (POV) in fiction writing

As usual, even the comments on the post are worth your time.
E.g. one of Steemit's most accomplished authors:
@negativer · 2 years ago
Great work! I struggle with POV a lot, particularly in the first draft when I'm more concerned about getting the story done and emptying my brain than I am about the finer details. A good writer will do as you say, going back to re-read it and make sure it feels right and makes sense.
A lot of what 'feels right' comes from being an experienced READER, so you know when things 'feel wrong' and as a writer you can then adjust it.
@snook is another #freewritehouse member I hadn't seen here
for some time, but she's back! Scroll down to see who nominated her poem and what the prompt was.
And now for the nominations - YOUR FAVORITES!

@iamraincrystal
It's time for another round of freewrite recommendations for the week.
Wow! I was impressed with this post from @fitinfun. I find it amazing that she does this fulltime. I only have a few hours each day for Steem, as there's day job and after work tutorials. Anyway, read how she does it in...
Facing Reality with STEEM Weekend Freewrite – October 19 2019 - Single Prompt Option – Awakening

This second one's from @deirdyweirdy. I found it really interesting. I like reading short stories. This definitely fits that. Plus, it had an eerie effect on me after I have done reading it. Perfect for Halloween. Find out more from...Moonstruck

@kaerpediem
There are so many characters to look our for in this Free Write. The child, the mother, the old woman. So many take aways. A child's attempt to make a situation disappear and then coming to terms with it. A mother's love and intuition and most of all, a stranger's concern. Only thing is, this isn't a story but a childhood memory of @justclickindiva's, inspired by the prompt Inappropriately Dressed.

@onyechi
Hi, my favorite freewrite are:
@justcliickindiva - gut feeling. Her story reminds me of the time I lost my little brother. My parents went from
one hospital to another and just came home one day with him, lifeless... It was a terrible day. @justclickindiva/gut-feeling-day-732-5-minute-freewrite-tuesday-prompt
@carolkean - inappropriately dressed. Reminds me of when my friend went to an Anglican church, because she was inappropriately dressed according to them, she was given something to cover herself up. The story was a funny one

@fitinfun
I went to the "damp conditions" prompt post to find my favs this week.
@improv is musing on life and how much easier it would be if we had better skills and more money. Amen!

@ireenchew is continuing her fiction writing after a break. I like this part of the story for ideas about renewal and change. And her character descriptions are very illuminating.

@wakeupkitty found a place here on STEEM that rewards comments. We sure need more interaction. So I will look into this now too.

@marblely
My favourite this week is The Package. I think @justclickindiva is a natural when it comes to story telling that touches the heart and mind. I am not sure if this story is true or a fiction but I can imagine every sentence as she tells her story and I was hoping the story didn't end where it did.

@wonderwop
I read this poem from my friend @snook on the prompt damp conditions. It's a wonderful, eye opening, poem about prison. Her prison was more like being captured, maybe a P.O.W. prison, not these prisons in the States where people go to get fed, buff, and rest. Or maybe it was a prison in your mind! Go read @snook's Freewrite and tell her what you think. 👍

@carolkean
Another one in from @snook!! And it's GOOD! You don't wanna miss it:
TheReality of Ice Cream
for Day 734: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: red tongue.
Here is a teaser:

She does have a knack for graphics! And you always get an education when you visit her posts, if only for the latest connections and happenings around Steemit.But that's not all! You write splendidly, @snook. Just to write competently will set you apart these days, but you are more than competent. I love the old houses with wall phones, the absence of the microwave, and the way our vinyls and cassettes were high-tech stuff that made us more advanced than our grandparents. And this: "punishment" to be kept indoors! Today's kids never seem to voluntarily go outside and get close to nature. When did all spider and bee phobias become so commonplace?
How does the prompt Red Tongue fit into this narrative? You'll have to go see for yourself.

Thank you for nominating, reading, resteeming, upvoting, and commenting!
#Follow the authors, and follow #hashtags! *
Here it comes...
#Hashtags matter!
Typos matter in #hashtags,
and I don't mean to embarrass anyone because we all suffer the occaional typo, and one of the most frequently misspelled is #theluvbug. Get one letter wrong, and your post will be the only one in the misspelled category. Who's going to find it there? Here's an example of the lonely consequence of leaving out the letter "i' in #we-write:
I almost never trust myself to type a name, even (especially!) the short ones. Eg., I can easily mis-type : @mgaft1 as @ mgfat1, and nobody will likely notice, unless someone tries to click on that name and call up his more recent posts.
#original-content is a hashtag that alerts @curie to new posts.
If you investigate #oc and #ocd (Operation Curie Delegation), you may also visit becquerel.io to see a record of the most recent posts upvoted through Curie curator/reviewer operations and leave thoughtful comments on them for your chance to win!

@fitinfun is a curator for @tipu and can give out some good votes!
Click on the image below to get to her post. I've tried to explain and use #tipu myself, but I kept running out of funds after so many auto-upvotes. Now @tipu has changed since "The Fork" (hardfork).

Today I got on the list to be a @tipu curator.
@tipu has changed from whatever it used to be to a new system now after the fork.
The project is just getting off the ground with changes, and you can read their updates here: @tipu
See the leaderboard of curators here: https://tipu.online/curators
The basic idea is that we little people can curate posts for others (and our own posts) with the big SP @tipu has. It is 2.5 million SP with most of that delegated from someone else.

@TheLuvBug was launched in March 2018 and has been doing its utmost to support the really hard workers here on the Steemit platform by upvoting and resteeming their content. It would be AMAZING if we were able to support more people, more often - and with your help, we can do that!

I still don't know much yet about this one, but #WhaleSlap! comes to mind:
My experience with @slowwalker or how @Art-venture project came to live
In August of 2018 after being a year on Steemit and having 1000SP we decided to help small users, who despite of being talented were undervalued. We @stef1 and @myskye decided to ask for delegation but so that it is transparent and the Delegator know that SteemPower will be used only for undervalued Artist we decided to create completely separate account so @art-venture was born.

Another #shoutout to volunteers who deliver the new day's prompt
@deirdyweirdy, @whatisnew, @wonderwop, @owasco, @fitinfun, @botefarm
And here's hoping the busy-work will not keep them from WRITING.
I tried that job for a while, and I can tell you, the Prompt Delivery Team members deserve recognition.

QUESTION for those who've read this far:
Do you think the logo from two years ago is better? @byn is so clever with graphics! I don't evenknow how to remove the red # for week number. The drawback to this logo is that #FreeWriteHouse is missing from it.
