Spotty Production Envisions the Return of the Comic Book "Seer"

Looking back at the @spottyproduction blog these past 4 months, it would be perfectly reasonable to assume that Spotty Production is all about chicken nuggets, zombie penguins, the Transporter, and obscure pop culture humor. The adventures of Imp and Teed in the webcomic "Appetite for Distraction" have certainly set that tone as they've found a new life on the Steem platform.

But what if Spotty Production had a dark side?

Welcome to the world of Seer.

What Do You See?

Seer is the story of James Sawlen, a second rate boxer at the tail end of his career. Lately James has begun to see things… His sleep is filled with nightmares, and the demons and shadows that haunt his nights are now starting to invade the days, stalking James even in his waking moments.

James must wonder, has he taken one too many shots to the head? Is he losing his mind? And if his sanity is in fact intact, then what are these specters that hound him? What would be worse, losing your mind, or being completely sane in a world where such monstrosities exist?

James will unravel the mysteries before him and battle for his mind and life. James knows only two immutable truths. He can take one hell of a beating, and too many questions just makes him want to hit things. It’s a pretty safe bet that James will fight to the bitter end. Unfortunately the odds that he’ll emerge victorious are far less favorable.

Looking Into the Past

In March of 2002, the comic book Digital Webbing Presents #2 was released. Within the contents of this anthology was a 5 page story entitled “Perceptions.” Written by Bryan Imhoff with artwork by Brad Green, this tale introduced the concept of Seer for the first time.

May 2005 marked the release of Seer: Round One, a full length comic which began telling the story in depth. This time, Imhoff handled both writing and artwork, publishing the comic himself.

Much has happened since that initial release, but despite languishing in it’s development, Seer has never been forgotten or abandoned. Today many more avenues are available for Seer to be seen and enjoyed by readers than ever before and the time has come for those avenues to be explored, with the Steem community at the forefront.

Envisioning the Future

Seer will reemerge from the shadows at a measured pace, each week one page will be made available online, having been previously unavailable for years. With the support and enthusiasm of friends and fans, new material will follow.

Having worked with several other creators in the production of various aspects of Seer, it is also a great time to give a bit back and help to promote the Steem system. To that end, certain posts will be noted as allocating a share of payout rewards to a collaborating artist. In many cases these creators are not currently using Steem and will be invited to join and claim their "bounty."

That system begins with this post! The talented Jason Moser contributed the color work for this featured Seer promo image. As such Jason is free to claim half of the rewards of this post. (As with all Spotty Production posts, this is 100% Powered Up - bounty payouts will be arranged by powering down the necessary funds at such time as requested by the recipient and provided in the form of Steem.)

Thanks for supporting Spotty Production as we launch our second comic on the blockchain, as well as helping support the broader comic art community.
