RM Sotheby's is offering up this beautiful 1965 Lancia Flaminia Super Sport 3C 2.8 through its annual Paris Sale the February 13 with an estimated price around € 240,000.

Beautiful car with this design, nothing to do with the new models... It's one of only 150 Super Sport produced by Lancia between 1964 and 1967.

History of Lancia Flaminia

The Lancia Flaminia was produced from 1957 and 1970 designed by Antonio Fessia, Italian mechanical engineer working for Lancia, to replace the Lancia Aurelia :

The Flaminia was presented during the Turin Motor Show in 1956 and named after the ancient Roman road from Roma to Rimini : Via Flaminia. Many coachworkers proposed a version of the Flaminia : Pininfarina, Touring and of course, Zagato :

Carrozzeria Zagato, Italian coachbuilding company based in Milan, proposed three models based :

Sport with covered headlights,
Second Series with a different front,
And in 1964, the model Super Sport was presented with a restyled body (recessed headlamps and new Kammback tail) and a boasted engine. Few Flaminia Super Sport 2.8 were produced, only 150 examples.

Kammback : it's when at the design level, the rear of the cars stop abruptly in order to minimize the drag. It was named after Wunibald Kamm who designed it in the 30's

Second Series

This example was bought in 1965. Its second owner (Count Giovanni Fani Ciotti) bought it in 1970 to keep it for more than 40 years, often in a garage. After three years of work, in 2016, the car was completely restored to bring the car back to its former glory (source : RM Sotheby's). Beautiful !

Specification

The Lancia Flaminia Super Sport 3C 2.8 is equipped with a boasted engine, 2,775 cc V6 mated to three Weber 40 DCN 12 carburettors producing 152 hp with a top speed of 210 kmh.

The car is finished in its original colors over a beautiful leather interior and wooden dashboard. I really like the attention to detail on the cars of this period, everything is studied to make it fit perfectly. Pure marvel !
