I wonder what the final price will be since it's one of only 14 examples with an alloy body produced by Boano between 1956 and 1958. I thnik I'm not going to have enough HBD/HIVE. 😀

History of Ferrari 250 GT

The Ferrari 250 GT was presented during the Geneva Salon in March 1956.

Enzo Ferrari wanted a new coachwork for his new road car (in order to finance his passion for racing cars) and asked to Pininfarina instead of Vignale, the most popular carrozzeria among Ferrari's customers.

Just for the pleasure, the version of the Ferrari 250 GT by Pininfarina and by Ellena :

Huge success, but Pinin Farina coudn't meet the demand with the construction of the new production site and so had to ask help. The contract for the Coupe version has been awarded to Boano Carrozeria founded by Mario Felice Boano, automobile designer working for Pininfarina and Ghia. But after building only 82 examples, the designer was hired by Fiat to run their styling center.

To have the contract, Boano had to replicate the model done by Pinin Farina but he did some subtle changes like reduce the haunch over the rear wheels for a smoother line (in my opinion 😀). In two years of production 80 examples were completed and only 14 with lightweight body in aluminum alloy.

Specification

The Ferrari 250 GT Coupe is equipped with a 3 litre Colombo V-12 engine with four speed gearbox, drum brakes and ZF steering system producing 229 hp. With its reduced weight, the model was very competitive during rallies (especially at the 956 Alpine GT and 1957 Acropolis Rally).
