Beer Review

Baby Seal Dance Party is a 6.9% alcohol/volume New England Style IPA made by Shebeen Brewing Company in Wolcott, Connecticut. Shebeen Brewing Company was launched in 2013 and has built a reputation as a great contract brewery for other local beer makers. They are home to the 'Cannoli Beer' made with select European grains, cream, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla to create a beer that simulates the famous Italian dessert pastry. The Baby Seal Dance Party is made with Lactose, Galaxy, Simcoe and Citra and then dry-hopped with more Galaxy to make a creamy tropical New England Style IPA.

The Can

Baby Seal Dance Party is served in a full pint can with a very lovable label as you can see in the photo below. It features a couple of baby seals having a dance party with a disco ball. The back of the can reads the following:

“How come people are always trying to keep baby seals out of the club? These bonafide party animals don’t go far without their favorite party f(l)avors. They pre-games with citra, galaxy, and simcoe then made it rain galaxy in the dry hop. Where you’re in the pub or the club, throw your flipper in the air like you just don’t care.”

The Beer

Baby Seal Dance Party was a great beer all-around. As you can see in the photo below, it formed a nice bubbly head when I poured it into a glass. The beer looked hazy, but bright yellow and creamy. It had a tropical juicy flavor from the hops and it went down really smooth thanks to the added lactose. The Baby Seal Dance Party is funny name for a beer, but it had a great label and a great taste. I look forward to trying more beers from Shebeen Brewing Company in the future!
