The sun is out and our bright California blue skies and lovely super white cottony cumulus clouds are back after many days of rain and gloomy skies.
As I was driving across town, I noticed a dark 'something' at the back seat of a white truck that passed my car. It got me so curious that I made sure I drove alongside the truck to find out what it was that I saw.
Luckily, we came upon a railroad track crossing and had to slow down. I got a closer look when the truck and my car were side by side. I found out that it was a black dog!
An adorable and H-U-G-E black dog!
It is not everyday that I see such a big and beautiful dog. It certainly made my day beautiful and sublime.
Here is some information about this large dog breed:
Neapolitan Mastiff
Neapolitan Mastiff is a descendant of the great Roman mastiff described by Columelle in the first century A.D. In his book “de re rustica”. This breed fought with the Roman legions and was spread throughout the empire during the Roman invasions. He is the ancestor of many mastiff breeds in other European countries. Having survived so for many centuries in the countryside at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius and in the region of Naples, he has been selectively bred since 1947.
General Appearance: Large, heavy massive and bulky dog, whose length of the body exceeds the height at the withers.
Neapolitan Mastiff Temperament: Steady and loyal, not aggressive or biting without reason, guardian of the property and its inhabitants, always vigilant, intelligent, noble and majestic. Under normal circumstances, the Neapolitan Mastiff is generally docile and unaggressive. However, he is known as an exceptional guard dog and maybe vigorous in defense of home and family. He is steady and loyal with those he loves.
