One of my best friends' birthday was on Aug 30th, we call it the infinite day since his birthday date is 30/08/83 and the numbers looks like a loop. He’s a big fan of anime and manga, one of his favorite characters of all times is Gundam Sandrock. He relates to the personality of the pilot, way of thinking, decisions in battle among other features. Time ago, he asked me to help him create a concept for his tattoo, he wanted gundam sandrock in his skin (though he fears needles a lot) and so I created this concept. At the end, he used a more close to reality Sandrock image yet he liked my design. So, for his 35th birthday and since he leaved the country a while ago, I wanted to make something nice for him, I took my concept and completed the drawing and painting on it.

First is the sketch. It's composed of a profile look to the face of the Gundam, as you might know Gundam robots resemble Samurai warriors. Added to this, I placed the homing missiles launchers in the head, the Heater Sholters (hose weapons that looks like scythe swords) forming an "S" and beyond this the Shield flashers in which is written the rest of the Gundam's name S-androck. I think the heaters and the shields are two distinctive features of this particular Character.
After that, I wanted to give the impression the Gundam was carved or inlaid on rock, my friend's field is geology and I thought he would like it. I drew the rock pattern around de drawing and painted after on crayon layers to obtain a bit of a mixed color.

All was made on a white opaline, sketch by pencil and painted with crayons. My little assistant Koro, the coin bag frog, helped a bit as you can see (I did most of the work that lazy frog...) aaand done. The photos were taken with my phone, LG g2mini camera, those were edited with Snapseed app and the gif at the end was made with Gif maker app.
