Away from keyboard #15. The Swallow's Nest above a cliff

One of the symbols of the Crimea is The Swallow's Nest.
When i was a kid i had a post card with this castle on it. I thought that it's the huge building on the top of the very-very high cliff. I had a dream to look at the sea from the front terrace of this castle.
When i finally got to Crimea, i find out that the castle is really small, it's more like the house, really...
And the cliff is not so tall as i imagined... And even the front terrace is closed for visits! :D
But i enjoyed visiting this place anyway! _ It's a beautiful one, no matter what!

This architectural and historical monument, made in the style of a medieval castle, hangs from a 40-meter cliff on the Cape of AI-Todor near Yalta. (Not 200-meter cliff, as i imagined ;D)

The first mention of this structure on the coastal cliff between Livadia and Mishor appeared in one of the regional guides of the Crimea in 1895. According to the author, the owner (his name remained unknown) showed unprecedented cold-blooded, because he have build a house on a steep site. At that time The Swallow's Nest looked different: it was an ordinary wooden house.

The building passed several times from one owner to another until it was purchased by Baron Rudolf Steingel. He re-made the Swallow's nest a lot. An ordinary wooden house turned into a picturesque Gothic fortress with a tower, spires and fancy windows.
