Hi Steemians, today just accidentally I read about the recent #mypictureday challenge initiated by @timsaid.
I am not expecting to be among the winners as here on STEEM we have more skillful and better equipped photographers than me, but I tried my best to make some decent photos as well, and above all it's some fun to take part.

I decided to present some photos of insects and other arthropods as well as some snails and slugs in our garden.

All pictures were made with my good 'old' mobile phone Huawei Mate 8.
I hope you enjoy watching them! :)

Hallo Steemians, heute erfuhr ich zufällig von der #mypictureday Challenge von @timsaid.
Ich erwarte nicht, zu den Gewinnern zu gehören, da es hier auf STEEM fähigere und besser ausgestattete Fotografen als mich gibt, aber ich gab mein Bestes, einige ordentliche Fotos zu schießen, und vor allem geht's bei der Teilnahme ja darum, etwas Spaß zu haben.

Ich entschied mich für Fotos von Insekten und anderen Gliederfüßern sowie verschiedenen Schnecken in unserem Garten.

Alle Bilder wurden mit meinem guten 'alten' Smartphone Huawei Mate 8 gemacht.

Even if the 'common scorpionfly' (Panorpa communis) looks really bizarre it is completely harmless. This exemplar is a female. Only male scorpion flies have that typical upwards curved abdominal tip which reminds a little bit at the sting of a scorpion.

Die 'Gemeine Skorpionsfliege' (Panorpa communis) sieht zwar bizarr aus, ist aber völlig harmlos. Bei diesem Exemplar handelt es sich um ein Weibchen. Nur männliche Skorpionsfliegen haben das typische, nach oben gebogene Abdomenende, das ein wenig an den Stachel eines Skorpions erinnert.

Lithobius forficatus belongs to the class of centipedes (Chilopoda). This arthropod is predatory and kills its prey with poisonous bites of its maxillipeds.

A small slug uses the bigger snail as 'taxi'. That looks rather harmless, but even some very petite slug species are predatory and can attack other species which are much bigger than themselves.

Eine kleine Nacktschnecke benutzt die größere Gehäuseschnecke als 'Taxi'. Das sieht völlig harmlos aus, aber selbst manche sehr kleinen Nacktschneckenarten sind räuberisch und können durchaus auch größere Arten angreifen.

'Leopard slugs' (Limax maximus) are very useful in the garden because they eat the eggs of other slugs and in addition they prefer to consume fungi and decaying organic substances.

'Tigerschnegel' (Limax maximus) sind sehr nützlich im Garten, da sie sie die Eier anderer Nacktschnecken fressen und selbst keine frischen Pflanzen verzehren, sondern vor allem Pilze und verrottende organische Substanzen.
