Hola a todos, les deseo una semana plena de experiencias buenas y gratificantes. Hoy he vuelto a la iniciativa convocada por @eugelys cada lunes, MUSICAL MONDAY, y al igual que la semana pasada, me siento contenta, porque hay otro espacio para que aquellos que no somos músicos, podamos compartir nuestras experiencias musicales.

La semana pasada estuve hurgando entre los libros de una de las bibliotecas de mi casa. En ellos hay libros y revistas que eran de mi abuelo, y me encontré un libro que llamó mi atención porque está lleno de partituras musicales. Es un libro algo viejo y está deteriorado, pero creo que igual es una joya. Éste fue editado en 1978, por el entonces Ministerio de Información y Turismo de mi país, Venezuela, como homenaje al MAESTRO ANTONIO CARRILLO. Para quienes no sepan quién fue este personaje, basta decir que fue un músico y compositor genial, exponente de la música nacional, destacándose como un bandolinista excepcional.

> Last week I was rummaging through the books in one of the libraries in my house. In them there are books and magazines that belonged to my grandfather, and I found a book that caught my attention because it is full of musical scores. It is a somewhat old book and is damaged, but I think it is still a gem. This was published in 1978, by the then Ministry of Information and Tourism of my country, Venezuela, as a tribute to MAESTRO ANTONIO CARRILLO. For those who do not know who this character was, it is enough to say that he was a brilliant musician and composer, an exponent of national music, standing out as an exceptional bandolinist.

Este libro es muy completo, pues trae un prólogo escrito por Manuel Rodríguez Cárdenas, un escritor venezolano que trabajó en pro promoción del folklore venezolano durante el siglo XX, y quien fue un gran admirador de la obra de Carrillo. Luego trae una biografía del Maestro. Cabe resaltar que de acuerdo a lo que indica este libro, el Maestro Carrillo sufrió un accidente cerebro vascular, (que poco tiempo después le causó la muerte), mientras hacía música, cuando se presentaba en un concierto en el año 1962.

> This book is very complete, as it has a prologue written by Manuel Rodríguez Cárdenas, a Venezuelan writer who worked to promote Venezuelan folklore during the 20th century, and who was a great admirer of Carrillo's work. Then he brings a biography of the Master. Luego presenta las partituras de 42 de las canciones compuestas por el Maestro Carrillo, firmadas con su puño y letra, y fechadas de acuerdo al año en que fueron compuestas. Pude notar que la mayoría son Valses, a excepción de un Pasacalle, un Bambuco y un Bolero, por lo que este compositor se decantó precisamente por ese género musical, por el Vals. El libro finaliza con el índice de la partituras. Realmente es un libro muy singular y único.

> Then it presents the scores of 42 of the songs composed by Maestro Carrillo, signed with his handwriting, and dated according to the year in which they were composed. I was able to notice that most of them are waltzes, with the exception of a Pasacalle, a Bambuco and a Bolero, which is why this composer opted precisely for that musical genre, the waltz. The book ends with the score index. It really is a very unique book.

Creo que muy pocas personas conocemos la obra del Maestro Antonio Carrillo. En mi caso particular no soy conocedora a profundidad de su música, pero sí recuerdo que de pequeña la oía en mi casa (en donde siempre había música), y cuando iba a visitar a mi abuelo, o venía de visita a la casa de mi tía, y es que siempre siempre, había música. Encontrar canciones de este músico es algo difícil, sin embargo pude dar con dos grabaciones de él, y la primera que comparto es el vals “Esperanza”, una bella pieza musical en donde podemos admirar la maestría en la ejecución del bandolín.

> I think that currently few people know the work of Master Antonio Carrillo. In my particular case, I don't know his music in depth, but I do remember that when I was little I listened to it in my house (where there was always music), and when I went to visit my grandfather, or came to visit my friend's house. Aunt, and there was always music. Finding songs by this musician is somewhat difficult, however I was able to find two recordings of him, and the first one that I share with you is the waltz “Esperanza”, a beautiful piece of music where we can admire the mastery in the bandolin performance.

La segunda pieza que les traigo hoy, es otro vals, titulado “Flor Otoñal”. Comparativamente con el anterior, que sonaba más alegre, en esta canción el ritmo es más sobrio, y se pueden oír unos interesantes acordes que ejecuta el Maestro Carrillo con el bandolín. Es una canción muy bonita también. Aquí les dejo el audio.

> The second piece that I bring you today is another waltz, titled “Flor Otoñal”. Compared to the previous one, which sounded more cheerful, in this song the rhythm is more sober, and you can hear some interesting chords that Maestro Carrillo plays with the bandolin. Y para cerrar mi Musical Monday de hoy, les comparto la canción más conocida a nivel nacional e internacional del Maestro Antonio Carrillo, la preciosa joya titulada “Como llora una Estrella”, la cual compuso en el año 1915. En este caso he traído la versión que hizo el músico venezolano Ilan Chester, en donde si bien no suena el bandolín, sí podemos admirar su hermosa letra y música. Según leí en este libro, esta era la canción que el Maestro Carrillo tarareó luego de sufrir el accidente cerebro vascular, mientras era trasladado a un centro de salud. Podría decirse que fue la canción que le acompañó hasta su muerte. Aquí les comparto el audio, espero disfruten esta bella canción.

> And to close my Musical Monday today, I share with you the best-known nationally and internationally known song by Maestro Antonio Carrillo, the beautiful gem titled “How a Star cries”, which he composed in 1915.
