Looking like the announcement we've been all waiting for has arrived. Steemitblog has just announced the progress towards SMT and HF20

So what is a HarkFork ?

Hardfork is literally a system upgrade, however because there is no 1 centralized system upgrade ... all the witnesses are required to update their servers to the latest version of the Steem blockchain.

SO what are the changes coming which may matter to you as a user ?

Updates to Account Creation - The primary goal of the Velocity Hardfork is to change the account creation system in order to lower costs and improve the new user onboarding process.
Dust Vote Threshold Changes - So previously if you SP was very low, your votes just could not go in. Making it a bad experience, now your votes would go thru however the effect of the reward on the post will still not be effected.
Curation window reduced - you can now start upvoting new post within 15mins and still gain curation rewards
Self Voting rewards - those who self vote themselves immediately will not receive curation rewards however it will be returned back to the blockchain. This will incentify to get other people to vote before the author vote on their own post
20 second comment limit - They have dramatically reduce this to 3 seconds you can make a comment from post to post
Decreased delegation cooldown - delegation returns of your Steempower has been changed from 7 day down to 5 days

After a really really long wait ! SMT release date is coming much more closer. It would literally give everyone a chance to create their own currency of the Steem blockchain. SMT date has been set for March 2019 with the testnet coming out by January 2019. Lets hope that everything runs on schedule so we can see all the amazing apps which will be coming out.
